We're a little late on this week's blog post...you know how this time of year gets! (Why is that? Like we're not busy the other ten months of the year?)
Do not adjust your computers...our website is down. We're working with our host to ensure it's up and running as soon as possible. In the mean time, continue to check here, as well as our Facebook pages and Twitter feed, for all the updates you need.
Week 2 has seen so many people getting back into their favorite classes. We love seeing our members so excited to hit the Spin Room, Aerobics Studio, and pools. The Super Class Pass is still available for $40...all the land and water classes you can take for one low price. A steal and a half is what that is.
The Nike Reuse A Shoe program has also gotten an outstanding response. We all have those sneakers taking up space in our closets and cars, so the drop-box in the lobby has been accepting old kicks to be recycled into athletic surfaces and apparel! Check out www.nikereuseashoe.com for more information about this amazing opportunity, and a BIG thanks to everyone who has donated so far...we've gotten TONS of shoes, and we're not done yet!
We just finished up another PADI Open Water SCUBA certification last weekend, and because the requests are still coming in, we've added two more classes to the calendar. Call 856.251.0990 x103 to find out how you can still get your flipper on.
Keep watching for information about how you can get your signed copy of the new Images of America: West Deptford book dropping next month. See your family and friends immortalized in this international publication...we're so proud of our residents and contributers. Created a history, formed a present, and shaping our future, all within these 27 square miles. Impressive, folks!
Enjoy this last week of September 2011, and we'll see you at RiverWinds, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!

Session 5 Week 1
It's the first week of Session 5 here at RiverWinds, and we're psyched!
Last week, our Free Week, was another outstanding success. We had great numbers in our group exercise classes and we're looking forward to welcoming all those who recently purchased their Super Class Pass for only $40...all the land and water classes you can take through December 31st!
We debuted our first Discover SCUBA program last Thursday, and had a nice group experience SCUBA for the first time. The two and a half hour class was a great intro for anyone wishing to give it a try without the commitment of an entire Open Water certification...although those participants are able to receive a nice discount on their checkout dives, should they elect to take the whole course. Which several of our Discoverers are planning to complete! Our next Discover SCUBA class will be on October 20th at 6:30 p.m. Sign up for your chance to get your feet wet!
Parents' Night Out was also last Friday, and our participants loved watching the DVDs of their choice and munching on pizza while Mom and Dad were able to get away. Kids want to reserve their spot for next time? Register them today for our October 14th service.
Don't forget, there's so much for kids to do, starting this week. Our Crafts for Little Hands program, Let's Pretend toddler playgroup, and Clay for Kids workshop, and Kids Craft Night all start this week. Check out RiverWinds.org for more details!
And don't forget to hook up with us on social media, as well. Look for our tweets @RiverWinds, and we're all over Facebook: friend us, like us, and join our group so you don't miss a thing at RiverWinds, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!

Session 5 Free Week
School has started and we are really getting into the swing of Autumn now! This week begins the Free Week for Session 5, so check out the website for schedules of all your favorite classes, free of charge! Can't get that kind of deal anywhere else.
If you missed it, West Deptford Day was on Saturday, despite some lousy weather reports. Because of the soggy ground, the event was moved to the parking lot in front of Brandemarti Field -- and it was a rousing success! All of our civic organizations were on hand, from scouts to police to library to historical association, as well as our successful sports teams, Little Theatre representatives, and Tiny, Little, Teen, and Miss West Deptford. What a crowd!
As advertised, keep an eye out for the Images of America: West Deptford book to be published around Halloween, written by our own Historical Association. Signings will be available here at RiverWinds later this fall.
Also, want to participate in Scarecrows on Parade? The West Deptford Free Public Library hosts the annual contest for all organizations, groups, and individuals to create and decorate a scarecrow to be displayed on RiverWinds Drive for the month of October! Stop by to sign up or call 856.845.5593.
This week, Discover SCUBA is available this Thursday in the Lap Pool from 7:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. Try out SCUBA without committing to the Open Water Certification...but we're confident you'll love it! Participants who complete Discover and go on to sign up for the whole cert will receive a discount on their open water check out dives.
This Thursday, residents and non-residents alike can also participate in our silk flower workshop, and come away with a lovely wreath or centerpiece. Bring a friend and get autumnal!
Parents stressed from the back to school rush? Look no further, because Parents' Night Out is back this Friday. From 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., members can leave their kids with our wonderful Child Care staff where they'll participate in a night of games, movies, and pizza, while Mom and Dad can get away from it all for a few hours. A 48-hour notice is required.
Have any great pictures of you and your family participating in any of the fabulous events at RiverWinds? Send us an email at MaskaA@RiverWinds.org and we'll share them with our followers!
Finally, a somber reflection on the ten year anniversary of September 11th. Our country and community were tested in ways rarely experienced, and as ever, West Deptford residents and beyond showed a strength and charity second to none. Let us keep that spirit in our daily lives and remember, we are all in this life together. USA and Eagle Pride!

Welcome, Fall
Where did summer go?
Here we are, after Labor Day, the unofficial start of fall. Teachers are back in school, and West Deptford kids go back tomorrow. School shopping is frenzied right now...parents and students both need a place to unwind. And that's where we come in!
The RiverWinds aquatic facility is open again after the annual five-day shut-down where the pools were drained and cleaned, the decks were painted, and the whole place got a good old once-over. It looks fantastic out there and we love that our members and residents have a place to swim even as the weather starts to cool off a bit. (And boy, has the mercury dipped these past few days!)
Next week is the Free Week for Session 5, but we have a limited number of group exercise classes running this week. In the water, our evening classes are still on, and there are many fitness classes still scheduled. Check the website for up-to-date schedules.
The Session 5 Program Book is almost done, and we anticipate it will be up on the web by the weekend. In the mean time, Swim Lesson schedules have been posted both on-line and at the front desk, and registrations are open for classes that start on the 19th.
Our new Discover SCUBA starts this month. On the 15th, try out SCUBA for a one-time $30 fee, and see what breathing underwater is all about! Get your feet wet without committing to the Open Water Certification course. But if you do like it (and we know you will!), you can sign up for our PADI certified course running on October 3rd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. Boy Scouts also now have the option of getting their SCUBA Merit Badge at RiverWinds with an accredtied BSA Merit Badge counselor.
Put October 28th on the calendar because Spookypalooza is back! Games, prizes, snacks, the hugely popular costume parade...it's all here! Festivities start at 5:30 p.m.
Need health and safety certifications? Get your American Red Cross classes here: CPR/AED training on December 5th at 6:30 p.m., and Lifeguarding starts on December 1st.
Itching to get your hands dirty? Try our Arts & Crafts classes: make a fall wreath or centerpiece, try your hand at oil painting, take our ceramics workshop, or learn to make custom designed jewelry!
Kids aren't left out, either: toddlers can play pretend or take a craft class, all engineered to enhance motor skills and help learn to socialize. Kids 9+ can take a turn on the pottery wheel, and elementary schoolers can make a Super Hero Cape or a Color-Me Backpack. Finally, parents and children can all enjoy Parents' Night Out, a sitting service on the 3rd Friday or each month for members, where kids get three huors of movies, pizza, and games, while Mom and Dad enjoy a night out.
Want more information? Check the web for dates, times, and costs, or call 856-251-0990.
We look forward to seeing you at RiverWinds, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!
