Session 5 Week 6

We love the fall, there's so much going on and we're always happy to see our members and residents enjoying the facility.

Last week, we had another awesome Discover SCUBA course run on Thursday and it's so exciting to see how the clinic gets more popular each time. Participants were able to try out SCUBA without dedicating themselves to the whole course...yet! A great discount is available to those who take Discover and enroll in the Open Water class, and the November class is right around the corner. We're already seeing enrollees take advantage of that great opportunity.

The Oil Painting class on Tuesdays remains popular, and our artists are emerging with some real talent. Take a peek in the Arts & Crafts room and see some of the works in progress. You're guaranteed to be impressed.

Most excitingly, this is the week! Spookypalooza is back on Friday the 28th at 5:30 p.m., and we're working like crazy to bring you the best event yet! Bring the whole family and don't forget the costumes!

Next week is looking busy, too...the Images of America: West Deptford book release is set for Thursday the 3rd, as is the ceramics workshop. Check back with us next week for more exciting updates.

We're also still in need of daytime lifeguards. If you hold a current certification from an accredited agency, come in to submit an application!

Remember next week is the Free Week, too, and there's still plenty of time to get in on the $40 Super Class Pass, all the land and water group ex classes you can take for one low price!

Check out the pictures below from our first annual Fitness-a-Thon, a wonderful event to raise money for breast cancer research and have a great time, too.

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @RiverWinds, and Friend or Like us on Facebook--join the RWCC Facebook group, too! Don't miss a single thing at your Community Center.

We'll see you at the facility, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!

Session 5 Week 5

Halfway thru October already? Sure, we're feeling fall at RiverWinds, excited about our current programs and looking forward to a holiday season that's just around the corner!

Our big event this past week was our first ever Fitness-a-Thon, where participants were able to enjoy a variety of classes from Yoga to INSANITY, with proceeds going to the Susan G Komen foundation. Getting in shape and supporting a great cause? Nothing better. We look forward hosting this amazing event annually and are grateful for our fantastic response!

We're looking forward to this week, too: Thursday has two great programs, starting with Discover SCUBA. If you're interested in SCUBA but don't want to commit to the Open Water certification just yet, "get your feet wet" with this introduction to diving, allowing participants to get familiar with the equipment and feeling of breathing underwater all while under the careful supervision of a PADI certified SCUBA instructor for only $30. Better yet, those who participate and elect to enroll in the Open Water certification will receive a $25 discount on a check out dive!

Also this Thursday is Kids Craft Night at 6:30 p.m. Kids 6-11 can create their own Super Hero Cape. Just in time for Halloween!

Everyone at RiverWinds is VERY excited for our annual Spookypalooza celebration. Games, prizes, food, and of course, the popular costume parade are all back and better than ever! Put Friday the 28th on the calendar, 5:30 p.m., and bring your family and friends, because this event is free!

Remember to follow us on Twitter @RiverWinds, and you can Friend or Like us on Facebook (join our group, too!). Don't forget to check our website at RiverWinds.org for all the details you're looking for.

We'll see you at the Community Center!

Session 5 Week 4

Now, this is the kind of fall weather we can all get behind! What a gorgeous weekend this was, and we saw our residents out and about by the truckload! RiverWinds Drive and the point were all bustling with activity as people - and their pets! - enjoyed October the way it's supposed to be enjoyed.

While walking around, no one can fail to notice the amazing Scarecrows on Parade that have cropped up since last week. We have some awesome residents with a real flair for the creative...come see what various township organizations had to offer on RiverWinds Drive!

We've secured November 3rd at 6:30 p.m. for the official unveiling of West Deptford's own book, authored by the township's Historical Associaiton. Join us in the Senior Center for the release and refreshments, and remember, you saw it here first!

Our Oil Painting class started last week, and we're already seeing some burgeoning artists emerge from the ranks. There's some real talent in town. We also started a new SCUBA class for the month, another great result of this warm weather. There's still time to jump into both, so give us a call at 856.251.0990 for more info!

Remember this week is Parents' Night Out, so if you haven't made your reservations yet, make them by Wednesday, as we need at 48-hour advance booking for your kids' night out!

Remember, as scout troops get back in the fall swing, RiverWinds offeres an unparalleled opportunity for advancement through our Merit Badge program, where Boy and Girl Scouts can earn badges and more with a certified Merit Badge Counselor. Call 856.251.0990 x103 for details.

Have a great week, and we'll see you at RiverWinds, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!

Session 5 Week 3

It's official: it's cold out! Already!

The mercury may have dropped last week, but we stayed busy here at RiverWinds. We experienced some technical difficulty early in the week as we had some website issues, but we had it fixed within a day and the surfing commenced. The Autism Walk was Saturday and, as ever, we had a great turn-out for a wonderful cause. The Italian Festival was Sunday, and the reviews were stellar from the food to the entertainment. The rain didn't help, but those Italians are troopers--some events were moved inside and the crowd followed.

The Masters Swim Program returned and moved to Wednesday and Friday mornings. Enrollment is still open to interested members!

We're looking forward to keeping busy this fall, as well. A couple big events on the horizon...Spookypalooza is scheduled for October 28th at 5:30 p.m., and we're already very excited for what it has to offer. RiverWinds is also the official location for the launch of West Deptford Township's own book, Images of America: West Deptford, authored by the West Deptford Historical Association. Proceeds benefit this non-profit organization, and the public can get their book on November 3rd at 6:30 p.m. Regular programs like Parents' Night Out, on October 14th, and Discover SCUBA, on October 20th, are on the calendar, and we're looking forward to both.

Classes remain busy, and we love hearing success stories from our members and residents. Lives are changing and we're proud to be a part of it!

Come see us at RiverWinds, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!
