Session 3 Land/Water Fitness Classes

Classes that Meet One Time per Week:


Abs, Jabs and Kicks: A kickboxing class that is non-stop, non-contact and includes tons of kicks, punches, blocks and footwork. AL

Awesome Abs: A workout to strengthen and tone the abdominal and lower back muscles. AL

Body Challenge: Intervals of cardio and strength training. Great music, great energy, great results! AL

Bottom Blast: A lower body workout designed to strengthen and tone the glutes, hips, thighs and abs. AL

Cardio Remix: Aerobics, Step, Cardio Kickboxing and more all swirled into one heart pumpin' workout designed to burn fat. AL

Cardio X-Train: Calorie-burning cardio intervals that may include kickboxing, plyometrics, jump rope, athletic drills and weight training. AL

Deep Water Workout: Utilize floatation belts in an intense deep water workout to tone, tighten, strengthen, and shed some serious pounds. Participants must feel comfortable in deep water with a floatation device. AL

Express Spin: A 30-minute indoor cycling class, which simulates a real outdoor ride with great music to keep you motivated. AL

NEW! Hip Hop Dance: A low-impact class choreographed to the latest hip hop music and taught in add-on format. AL

Insanity™: If you love a challenge, then prepare yourself for this. Actual DVD’s are played each week from the Insanity™ collection. I/A

Lunch Time Circuit: Can’t find time to exercise? Try our 30-minute lunchtime circuit, a combination of cardio, strength and core work to break up your day. AL

NEW! Outdoor Walking: Easy to moderate level walking excursions around RiverWinds’ grounds incorporating upper and lower body strength training. AL

Pedal Power: Rise and shine in this 30-40 minute spinning class which transitions to the aerobics room for strength training after the spin. AL

Saturday Yoga: A gentle form of yoga focusing on form, body alignment & breathing. Leaving you feeling fit, vital and healthy. AL

Spin & Tone: 30 minutes of spinning followed by 45 minutes of intense toning using a chair and very light weights. This class will help you get the kind of results that I know you never thought were possible. AL

Spinning: Get on and start climbing. You’re going to love it. You’re going to hate it. You’re going to feel the results. Please bring a towel! AL

Sun Style 73: This tai chi class includes warm-up, balance and wind-down exercises, along with a weekly practice of The 5 Element Qigong. The movement series is comprised of 73 steps. AL

NEW! Turbo Kick: Each workout starts with a sport specific warm-up, bouts of intense intervals, easy to follow combinations, kickboxing specific strength/endurance training and a cool down that work together to transform your body! AL

Upper/Lower Cuts: Shape and define the upper and lower body with effective, time-efficient methods using a variety of equipment. A

Vinyasa Yoga: Flowing sequences that are linked to the breath. Experience benefits such as increased strength, endurance, and flexibility. AL

Yoga: A form of exercise that uses flowing movements and stretching. It is good for increasing flexibility and balance. AL

Yoga Fusion: Move your body to the chill music that will touch your soul. A combination of power yoga, light weights, and stretching to improve flexibility and strength. AL

Cardio Surprise: A variety of cardio floor aerobics, step and some added kick boxing. AL

Mixed Martial Arts Workshop for Men Only: This clinic is designed to help men stay physically fit throughout cross training in mixed martial arts in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. We’ll cover technique most often used in mixed martial arts. This class uses boxing, Judo, JuiJitsu and techniques used in other arts. This class will also get into offense, defense, combinations, counters, escapes and much more. Don’t miss it! June 15th at 8:00 p.m.

National Senior Day at RiverWinds! Free to West Deptford Senior residents, participate in raffles, health screenings, outdoor walks, craft tables, massages, food, and much more! May 18th from 9:00 a.m. – noon in the lobby.

PADI SCUBA

SCUBA Certification – OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS! The Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) will guide you successfully through confined-water lessons in the lap pool as well as classroom-based instruction, to become a proficient, enthusiastic, and safe SCUBA diver. No prior experience is necessary; requisites include only a comfort in deep water and fair swimming skills. Equipment rentals are included in the cost of registration. A two-day open water or “check out” dive is required for certification and can be coordinated by the instructor at the end of the course (additional fees apply). Students also have the opportunity to use the PADI Referral Program to complete check out dives on location world-wide. A pre-course orientation will be held prior to the first class where students will receive their Crew Pack with educational materials and medical forms, and arrange free equipment rentals. RiverWinds Community Center remains a dedicated Authorized Provider for the American Red Cross, providing you with flexible and economical opportunities to acquire the training you need. Our certified instructors guide you through any class necessary for your personal or professional use during conveniently scheduled classes or private group lessons. PLEASE NOTE: CPR/AED CERTIFICATIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL RESCUERS & HEATHCARE PROVIDERS ARE NOW VALID FOR TWO YEARS!

PLEASE NOTE:
• Participants must attend the entirety of all classes in order to pass any individual course.
• Prices of all full certification courses include any required text materials, face shields, and/or first aid supplies.

Each class will begin in either the classroom prior to entry into the pool. Boy Scouts of America/Girl Scouts of America Badge Counseling Sessions: Boy and Girl Scout troops can earn advancement (badges, merit badges, belt loops, etc.) in the areas of Aquatics and Health & Safety and complete BSA Swim Tests at the RiverWinds Community Center. Session 3 Youth Programs

Summer's a-comin', and the kids are in need of something to occupy their energy. Where better than RiverWinds to keep them active, healthy, and happy? Check out these programs and call 856.251.0990 x106 with questions or to enroll.

Hermit Crab Races: Start off the summer with our third annual live hermit crab race! Pick out your favorite hermit crab and race your crab to the finish line. After the race, you get to take home your hermit crab, so make sure you bring a container for him! 6/9 at 7:00 p.m. For those 3+.

Craft of the Month: Kids, come out and try something new! On May 20th, make a Patriotic Charm Bracelet and show your patriotic colors, or on June 10th, try some Sand Art and make a colorful bottle to decorate your room. For kids 6+.

Tumble Tots: This class encourages children to learn general motor skills in tumbling and social skills with other children their age. Tumble Tots is a great way to teach your child how to share with others and follow directions. Mondays from 4:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. May 10th thru June 21st. For kids 2-4.

Duck Races: See who has the fastest toy duck or sea creature! Enter your duck or we will supply you with a duck. May the best duck win! June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. SHARP! FREE to pass holders!
Mother Day’s Craft Class for Talented Little Fingers: A special gift for mom made by your little one’s own hands; no gift is dearer to your heart than the one made by your child. Monday, May 3rd from 12:30 – 1:15 p.m. for kids 3-5 years old.

Mother’s Day Craft: Kids – want to surprise mom on her special day? Sign up for our secret craft just for mom. Remember, it’s a secret so you are going to have to wait for class to find out what spectacular gift will be made for mom! Monday, May 3rd from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. for kids of all ages.

Father’s Day Craft: Let's not leave out Dad! Surprise him, too! June 15th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. for kids of all ages.


Parents’ Night Out: Parents, you deserve a night out! RiverWinds is offering a program for our members. Do not look any longer for that special sitter for your child. A 48-hour notice is required. The children and a child care provider will participate in activities, games, or a night of movies. We will provide a snack and entertainment. Friday May 14th from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Session 3 Arts & Crafts

Check out some of our incredible art classes! All courses are for those 16 and over (or 12 and up with an adult). Remember, our Arts & Crafts classes are open to non-residents, as well...so bring a friend! It's a great activitiy for moms and daughters, senior clubs, or anyone feeling a little crafty!

Oil Painting: All ability levels are welcomed. Class taught by renowned local artist Woody Platt, member of the Gloucester County Art League. Come have fun with oils and discover the artist that is in all of us. At the first class students will be given a list of supplies they need to purchase. Eight 2-hour classes. Tuesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. 5/11 - 6/29

Pottery/Clay Hand Building: This class will introduce you to hand building techniques which will include pinch, coil and slab construction. You will make useful, functional items and/or unique works of art. You will enjoy the experience. Pieces will be fired and glazed. Class taught by local artist Cissy Rosenberg. White clay, red clay and supplies included. Four 2-hour classes. Thursdays from 1:00- 3:00 p.m. 5/20- 6/10
Pick-A-Piece of Ceramic Bisque Ware: Come try your hand at ceramics and enjoy painting and trying different glaze techniques. There will be assorted pieces; bowls, plates and vases, etc. Then the piece will be fired for your own use or as a gift. Products are strictly non-toxic. All supplies included. Come have fun! Class taught by resident artist Fran DiCarlantonio. 6/21 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
