Welcome, Fall

Where did summer go?

Here we are, after Labor Day, the unofficial start of fall. Teachers are back in school, and West Deptford kids go back tomorrow. School shopping is frenzied right now...parents and students both need a place to unwind. And that's where we come in!

The RiverWinds aquatic facility is open again after the annual five-day shut-down where the pools were drained and cleaned, the decks were painted, and the whole place got a good old once-over. It looks fantastic out there and we love that our members and residents have a place to swim even as the weather starts to cool off a bit. (And boy, has the mercury dipped these past few days!)

Next week is the Free Week for Session 5, but we have a limited number of group exercise classes running this week. In the water, our evening classes are still on, and there are many fitness classes still scheduled. Check the website for up-to-date schedules.

The Session 5 Program Book is almost done, and we anticipate it will be up on the web by the weekend. In the mean time, Swim Lesson schedules have been posted both on-line and at the front desk, and registrations are open for classes that start on the 19th.

Our new Discover SCUBA starts this month. On the 15th, try out SCUBA for a one-time $30 fee, and see what breathing underwater is all about! Get your feet wet without committing to the Open Water Certification course. But if you do like it (and we know you will!), you can sign up for our PADI certified course running on October 3rd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. Boy Scouts also now have the option of getting their SCUBA Merit Badge at RiverWinds with an accredtied BSA Merit Badge counselor.

Put October 28th on the calendar because Spookypalooza is back! Games, prizes, snacks, the hugely popular costume parade...it's all here! Festivities start at 5:30 p.m.

Need health and safety certifications? Get your American Red Cross classes here: CPR/AED training on December 5th at 6:30 p.m., and Lifeguarding starts on December 1st.

Itching to get your hands dirty? Try our Arts & Crafts classes: make a fall wreath or centerpiece, try your hand at oil painting, take our ceramics workshop, or learn to make custom designed jewelry!

Kids aren't left out, either: toddlers can play pretend or take a craft class, all engineered to enhance motor skills and help learn to socialize. Kids 9+ can take a turn on the pottery wheel, and elementary schoolers can make a Super Hero Cape or a Color-Me Backpack. Finally, parents and children can all enjoy Parents' Night Out, a sitting service on the 3rd Friday or each month for members, where kids get three huors of movies, pizza, and games, while Mom and Dad enjoy a night out.

Want more information? Check the web for dates, times, and costs, or call 856-251-0990.

We look forward to seeing you at RiverWinds, your place for Family, Fun, and Fitness!
